Nomadic Tempest: A Climatopian Spectacle.
CARAVAN STAGE COMPANY BRINGS INNOVATIVE OUTDOOR THEATRE EXPERIENCE TO NANAIMO
Cirque du Soleil-style theatre sets sail in this original Climatopian spectacle performed
aboard a tall ship.
Nanaimo, BC (May 24, 2018) - Caravan Stage Company, the worl;s first tall ship theatre troupe, returns to BC after a thirty-year international tour aboard the Company's replica Thames sailing barge, the Amara Zee. They are now bringing their original rock opera, Nomadic Tempest, to Nanaimo! Gather at Waterfront Suites and Marina to see the ship transformed into a technologically innovative musical theatre stage. Nomadic Tempest is the mythical saga of four monarch butterflies—embodied by multicultural aerial artists—searching for refuge on a drowned planet. Audiences assemble on the shore to experience original music, soaring vocals, and aerial acrobatics backed by spectacular lighting and visual projection. The show explores themes of climate change and environmental preservation, and contains some adult language and apocalyptic imagery. The show runs from June 12 to June 16. Tickets available now on Eventbrite or through the Caravan's company website. Tickets are donation-based only. General admission seating is limited; attendees are encouraged to bring their own low-lying chair or blanket. Recommended arrival time by 9:30PM for a 10:00PM start. Please print or have an electronic copy of your ticket available to present upon entry.
The show venue is Waterfront Suites and Marina, located at 1000 Stewart Ave in Nanaimo, BC. Limited off-street parking may be available. Please consider a ride-share, biking, or walking to the event. Please note that if there is inclement weather, including wind and rain, shows may be cancelled for the safety of the performers and riggers.
