Project overview
Funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC), this project sets out to do two things.
To create staff manuals for our core staff members, the executive director and program coordinator.
To create a core training manual for volunteers focusing on training fundamentals at CHLY via easily repeatable onboarding and training modules.
These two components would also create frameworks for future staff manuals and training modules.
Goals of the project
The creation of an Executive Director Manual and a Program Director Manual to document need-to-know information and processes for future staff members.
The creation of a framework for future job manuals, ie a Sales Coordinator Manual.
The creation of a Core Training Manual with the following modules:
Station Orientation;
Programming Fundamentals Modules;
Music Department Fundamentals Modules;
Production Fundamentals Modules;
News and Spoken Word Fundamentals Modules.
Outcomes of the project
Improved and documented internal workflows for existing and future staff members.
With better training and documentation, seeing "off-air" volunteer duties more easily and competently completed by volunteers, ie: Music Department intake/maintenance work, writing scripts for PSAs, outreach, etc.
Improved tracking of volunteer hours and staff hours.
Overall having more qualified volunteers involved in the creation of programs.
Per week, an increase in our total original local spoken word programming.
Host at least two training week sessions with the above modules in January 2022 and May 2022 to increase the core skills of our new volunteers and existing volunteers.
To see these training weeks regularly fixed to our calendar year to year in September, January, and May.
