Support Nanaimo’s non-profit community radio station! Matching Supporters offer a dollar-for-dollar match up to a predetermined limit to encourage our listeners to step up and become one time or monthly sustaining donors!

Your support will fund:

Cultural enrichment for our listeners at CHLY 101.7FM via our eclectic mix of programs focusing on music, arts & culture. We are the Nanaimo station to find music not heard on commercial radio! Jazz, blues, classical, folk, reggae, punk, electronic, independent rock, pop, and more, all selected and curated by volunteer hosts!
Local news and information through our Nonprofit Newsroom Project. Money invested goes directly into hiring local journalists, to report credible on important civic issues in Nanaimo and on the Salish Sea to our listeners.
Our Summer Radio Camp for Youth, and allow us to reduce costs for participants from low-income families. Participants ages 10-14 learn the basics of audio production and more.
Necessary equipment upgrades at the station for our non-profit staff, journalists, and volunteers.
Emergency broadcast equipment so that we can broadcast critical information when the power grid goes down.
Our PSA program. We air PSAs free of charge for local and national non-profits to help them promote their missions and programs.

Matching Sponsor or Matching Donor?

We offer two options for Matching Supporters to make their contribution:

Matching Sponsors

This is ideal for small businesses. You get recognition as a Matching Sponsor. You’re noted in our on-air Fund Drive messaging aired at the top of the hour during the length of the Fund Drive.

Matching Donors

This is idea for individuals. As a Matching Donor, you can receive a tax receipt through the VIU Foundation, but you are ineligible for an on-air Matching Donor message if you will benefit from name recognition (ie, your name is associated with a business you run, or you’re an elected official). We can however thank you in our end of fundraiser wrap email and website update as a donor among all other donors.

Matching Donors who won’t benefit from name recognition are eligible for a Matching Supporter Message if they wish to!

We can also keep things anonymous on the air in order to avoid benefit.

Donations made during this hour will be matched dollar for dollar up to [MATCHING AMOUNT], helping us towards our $70,000 goal. Funding our non-profit station brings you and others local news, stories, conversations, and an eclectic mix of music not heard elsewhere on-air! Donating is easy! What donations count towards my contribution?

All one-time donations, and NEW or upgraded monthly Sustaining Donations (calculated to financial year end) made during the days of the Fund Drive count towards your dollar-to-dollar match up to the specified amount you select.
