Hammond Bay Neighbourhood Association hopes that major sewer project brings pedestrian improvements

Barry Lyseng says he’s been advocating for pedestrian improvements on Hammond Bay road for 27 years.

Lyseng is chair of the Linley Valley Stephenson Point Neighbourhood Association. He’s hopeful that plans to replace several kilometres of sewer pipe along the road starting early next year will bring improvements to the pedestrian experience. Hammond Bay features several stretches with minimal space for pedestrians to walk on either side.

Pedestrian improvements to the road were the neighbourhood association’s number one priority action item submitted to the city this year.

Lyseng spoke with Midcoast Morning about the situation on Hammond Bay, and what he’s hoping to see change.
